Eat Out - Chatter Box (Laksa)

Day 103

It was raining heavily today and we wanted something warm and spicy for our lunch. I chanced upon this guy's website where he reviews laksa from the various eateries and it certainly made me drool. So laksa it is!

We made our way to Tivoli Arcade in the rain. The Arcade was really quiet and our initial thoughts were that perhaps it is closed today or it has closed down. Chatter Box was right at the end of the arcade and the whole place looked rather old. There weren't many diners and I was beginning to think if it was worth it for us to brave the rain. Both of us ordered the Chicken Curry Laksa ($8.30).

When the laksa was dished out, not only did it look good, it smelt good too. The laksa here are served with noodles and bee hoon, they don't have the laksa noodles that I love. I found noodles, bee hoon, bean sprouts, fish cake, chicken and char siew in this laksa. It was not spicy enough for us so we added more chilli and Mr Tan likes it as the taste of coconut milk wasn't too strong.

Halfway through our meal, the motherly lady from the counter walked over and asked if we wanted to have some free dessert. Red beans with sago in coconut milk. She had me at sago. Towards the end of the meal, I found the curry too salty, downed the tea and ate the dessert. It tasted like Pulut Hitam and it was DELICIOUS! It wasn't too sweet and it kind of neutralised the saltiness of the curry. 1 bowl isn't enough for me! I went to Asian Grocery and bought all the ingredients needed to make red bean and black glutinous rice dessert. I am going to make it soon!
