Day 131
We decided to head to Pekopeko for dinner since it was in Southbank but I didn't expect it to be so far! It was a long and cold walk. I tried to burn more fats by wearing shorts (this is gin's logic, no scientific proof whatsoever) and it took us almost 30 minutes to reach there.
The food was not too bad but the dining experience was made unpleasant by the 2 groups of loud and rowdy diners. They were so loud that I could barely hear myself or Mr Tan. Luckily 1 group left soon after we arrived but the other group, already high on alcohol, just kept going on and on.
We ordered Salt and Pepper Calamari ($8.50), Chilli Chicken ($12) and Pop Chicken ($12). The salt and pepper calamari was disappointing. There were so few pieces and the salt was a tad too much.
The Chilli Chicken and Pop Chicken were served in Bento boxes. The side dishes looked rather pathetic in the box. Miserable 2 pieces of broccoli, even more miserable 1 piece of fried tofu. Luckily, they fared well in the taste test.
The Chilli Chicken tasted a little like Kung Po Chicken except that it had a tinge of sourness to it. It tasted average and at $12, I would not order it again. They were pretty generous with the serving of the chicken though.
The Pop Chicken is Pekopeko's most famous dish and I guess one can't go wrong with fried chicken. It was hot and crispy. The chicken was tender and yummy. Wasabi Mayo Prawns is apparently another of their famed dishes and I will certainly try it the next time I visit. Oh, the bill came in a cute little bucket! Cute!
