Day 315
The Queen is the official head of state of Australia and her birthday is celebrated in many parts of Australia on the second Monday of June. In short, it's a public holiday! Woohoo~
Lunch @ Okonomi-Ju
A small Japanese eatery located under the railway in Batman Park. The weather was good today, the sun was out and it was a pleasant walk though I was a little worried that it might be closed today as it was a public holiday. Thank goodness it was opened and we didn't make a wasted trip. :)
The seafood okonomiyaki was rather good, it had lots of vegetables and they were generous with the seafood too. The only thing I asked for more was the mayonnaise. Yes, fattening stuff but I love it! We also ordered a Karaage Don and I love the carrots that came with it. The chicken was tender and not oily. For $8.50, I would say it was value for money. A nice and quiet place to have lunch.
Shopping @ DFO
DFO was crowded today. Aim was to buy Mr Tan's short jacket but didn't manage to see any suitable ones. Tried on a couple of jackets myself but didn't fall in love with any of them. 两手空空, 一点成就感都没!
Dinner @ Petaling Street
Had dinner at Glen Waverley's Petaling Street previously and found the food to be rather tasty. Jasmine told Mr Tan that she had 肉挫面 there and it was very similar to the ones back in SG. However, the only 肉挫面 we saw was with Mee Tai Mak, not something that we wanted so we ended up ordering Curry Laksa and Deep Fried Fish with Sambal Sauce. The curry laksa has "see ham" in it!! Not the fresh and juicy ones but it was better than nothing. The serving was huge and I could hardly finish half of it.
The sambal sauce was a letdown though. It wasn't spicy at all. Sigh. The sauce was only sufficient for one side of the fish and I had to eat the other side of the fish without any sauce on it. Sigh. The only positive thing was that the fish was huge and could easily feed the 2 of us. The food was good but it wasn't a satisfying meal because of their HORRIBLE service.
BAD service #1
The place was crowded and we had to queue for a while before getting a seat. There was a group of 5 in front of us and while we were queuing behing them, this woman and her angmoh friend simply walked up to the front of the queue and told the staff they wanted a table for 2. Guess what the staff did? They didn't even ask the rest of us and simply showed them to their seat! I was flabbergasted! The woman didn't even ask if we were in the queue and simply jumped in front of us. But the worst thing was, the staff didn't even check with us!
BAD service #2
We weren't served any water like the rest of the tables. We saw that they usually bring the water to the tables once diners are seated but no one bothered about us and we weren;t sitting in a corner. We were in plain sight. They simply forgot about us. We had to wave and wave to get someone's attention to take our orders. Not to mention that NONE of the staff had a smile on their face.
