The Pain after the Happiness

Day 477

Mr Tan and I went for a road trip to Adelaide last week and now that we're back, there's so much cleaning to do!! I love going on holidays and absolutely hate the aftermath. A big fat belly, a rounder face, a thick layer of dust covering the apartment and an overflowing laundry basket means I've lots to do. I need to go for more exercise classes, I need to vacuum and clean the apartment, I need to wash, dry and iron the clothes and I need to cook dinner! Hopefully I'll be able to finish the chores soon and update my blog and upload the pictures.

Eat Out - Don Don & Margo's

Day 461

Takeaway lunch from Don Don - the very popular Jap place that is highly raved. Words commonly used to describe its food include amazing, best, delicious, flavourful, addictive and cheap. Is it really possible to get fresh and delicious Jap food at such an affordable price? Well, it's time to find out for myself. We ordered a sashi don and a teriyaki chicken don for $15. Cheap. Food came out in less than 5 mins. Fast. 

 

Verdict: Disappointing. The sashimi weren't too fresh and the teriyaki chicken was too salty. You get a cheap and fast meal that isn't high on quality. I guess when you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. 

                                                                                                                                                                                     

Another guilty dinner indulgence - fried food! All my hard work during Spin, Abs and Body Combat classes are going down the drain! I need to go for more classes to work the fats off. Boohoohoo.

We've dined at Margo's a couple of times during Crown's "Seafood Celebration" promotion and I absolutely love the cooked tiger prawns served with cocktail sauce. Delish! I've also tried its pasta and chicken parmigiana and they were both a disaster. So this time round, I decided to order something that can't go wrong. Salt and Pepper Calamari with Fries. Mr Tan went with Fisherman's Harvest - another safe choice. Both were good, I especially love the shoe string fries and fried prawns but then again, there's little that can go wrong with fried food. Anything that's fried is almost always good! But we're at Margo's only because of the meal vouchers, otherwise, we wouldn't be there. It's a noisy and service-less place with overpriced food.

从小,我就住在姑妈家。姑妈就像我的第二个妈妈。姑妈把我和弟弟当成自己的孩子来带,全心全意照顾我们,把我们养得白白胖胖。小时候,我很爱哭,不喜欢上学,每次都要姑妈站在校门口等。如果看不到她,我就哭得很大声,常被老师投诉。虽然姑妈不会英语,但为了给我spelling, 她发明了自己的方法。Papaya = 爸爸牙。Telephone = 他力风。姑妈很聪明吧!

姑妈很疼我和弟弟,她对我们的爱与关怀是我们童年最深的记忆。

宝贝姑妈,您是我生命里很重要很重要的人,因为您是我的二个妈妈。谢谢您的照顾,谢谢您的鼓励,谢谢您的爱。您是 一位很伟大,很坚强的人。无论生活都辛苦,您都咬紧牙更,勇敢地往前走。您是一个大好人,就算自己再辛苦,都会想着去帮别人。从小,您教我对人要宽容,对长辈要有礼貌。您对我的养育之恩,无论我做什么回报,都显得很渺小。我对您有太多太多的感激,言语根本无法形容。

Lazy Guilty Third

Day 458

Woke up feeling cold and lazy this morning. Was supposed to go for Spin and Abs but didn't manage to drag myself out of the house. Told myself that I'll go for the evening Spin instead but that didn't happen either. For some unknown reasons, I was feeling extremely lazy today. Now I'm feeling guilty for missing class. Argh! It didn't help that we had fried prawns and chicken nuggets for dinner and hot fudge sundae for dessert.

Gin's Kitchen - Spaghetti with Garlic Prawns

It's November! Yeah! I love November because it's my birthday month! It's GINvember! But I'm not looking forward to my birthday this year because I don't want to move into the BIG THREE. More wrinkles, more greys, more cellulite. Slower metabolism rate, slower reflexes. I'm OLD. But I'm not going to sulk, I'm going to keep my spirits up and pamper myself the entire month! First up, my new fave way of cooking prawns - creamy garlic prawns, with spaghetti.


Ingredients
- 10 green prawn cutlets
- 1 handful of spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons of cooking cream
- 80ml of water (because I ran out of wine)
- 1 clove of garlic (minced)
- 1 knob of butter
- 1/2 teaspoon of Knorr chicken powder
- 2 teaspoons of chopped parsley
- 1 teaspoon of crushed chilli flakes
- 1 teaspoon of crushed black pepper

Directions
1. Bring a saucepan of water to boil, add some salt and cook spaghetti till al dente
2. Pour away the water and melt butter in pan over medium-high heat
3. Once butter has melted, add prawns and cook until they are almost cooked
4. Reduce heat and add garlic into pan and stir for about 30 seconds (be careful not to burn the garlic!)
5. Add water and chicken powder and bring it to boil
6. Add cooking cream and stir well
7. Simmer sauce until it has thickened to desired consistency
8. Toss cooked spaghetti into the pan and mix well
9. Sprinkle parsley, red chilli flakes and black pepper and serve!
