I'm proud of Papa and Mama Goh!

Day 64

Papa and Mama Goh are dinosaurs when it comes to IT. Handphone is the furthest they had explored. Even for handphones, it is just to make calls. No photos, no videos, no music, too complicated they say. But they have been taking little steps. Last year, they learnt how to take pictures using a digicam and it took us so many attempts to show them how to use it before they finally took the plunge.

Before I came over, they were bugging me everyday to show them how to use Skype so that they can talk to me EVERYDAY. Yes, everyday. If I'm not home, I need to tell them beforehand or leave them a msg on Skype to let them know. Otherwise, Papa Goh will be 'bombed' by Mama Goh and he has to call me on my handphone to check on me. Mama Goh seems to think that something must have happened to me if I'm not on Skype. (Choy! Touch wood!)

Papa and Mama Goh can now switch on my desktop and log on Skype and video chat with me. Not an easy feat for 2 dinosaurs but Mama Goh wrote down every step on her notebook and I even pasted a sticker on the "on" button in case they can't find it. Recently, Papa Goh started typing messages to me over Skype and I am very impressed! Of course, he needs to work on his Spelling and Grammar but he is no longer a Dinosaur. :) One of his messages had me laughing all night. Haha.

2 weeks ago, I got another surprise! They are now on Facebook! They got Mei to set up an account for them and now, they want to learn how to use FB! All because I am away from home, they want to be able to see the photos I took and be updated with my life. Thank you, Papa and Mama Goh. You are the best! I am so proud of you! Next, I am going to introduce Bejeweled to them and get them hooked on the game! Haha.

This had me laughing all night

6th Month Anniversary / 2nd Month Anniversary

Day 62

Today is our 6th month wedding anniversary. :)
It also marks our 2nd month away from home.

Daylight saving started last night at 2am and we were up to see the jump in our computer clocks. After 1.59am, it didn't go to 2am but instead, went forward to 3am! We woke up late and went to the city. The weather has warmed up and it was 24°C today! Woohoo~ Finally no more thick winter wear! The people here have started wearing shorts, spag tops and slippers! Time for my sunglasses, shorts and Birkis to make their appearances! =)

We decided to cook Mee Siam for dinner today and I must say, this mix is the best we have tasted so far. We have tried Laksa, Vegetable Curry, Chicken Curry and Prawn Mee. This tasted the closest to what we have back home and Mr Tan said it is the best Mee Siam he's ever had. Bon Appetit!

Gin's Kitchen - 宫保鸡丁 + 柠檬鸡 + 咕噜鸡

Day 60

Movie Night Out

Day 59

We went for our very first movie here, courtesy of Mr Tan's company. Employees watch for free and they can bring in a guest for $5. The movie isn't something that we would go and watch but since it is free, why not?

It is the first time that I am in a theatre with 90% of the audience in suits and corporate wear. Seems like some movie premiere. Haha. The theatre is a small and cosy one. There are 2 halls in the theatre and they only sell popcorn, chips, cake and of course beer and wine. We wanted to buy some finger food as we had not had our dinner but there was none. In the end, we bought some dim sim. The people here love dim sim and we have no idea why. It is a Chinese-inspired meat dumpling-style snack food which normally consists of a large ball of pork or other meat, cabbage and flavourings, encased in a wrapper similar to that of a more traditional dumpling.
THE Dim Sim!
During the movie, Mr Tan actually fell asleep! The movie was that exciting. Haha. Watching a movie here is not like back home. Nobody talks or even whispers during the show. Luckily Mr Tan didn't snore in the theatre, otherwise it would be so embarrassing! Oh, by the way, the movie is "Wall Street - Money Never Sleeps."

After the movie, we went to one of my fave dining place to have our dinner. Pancake Dessert House! The food is good, cheap and fast! I ate my fave Salt and Pepper Chicken with rice! Yum yum! I love the tender fried chicken with the onion and green pepper. So so yummy...writing about it is making me drool! I must learn how to cook it so that I can have it at home everyday!
